Salema.info – Holiday accommodation in Salema

Happy Holidays!

Salema is a working fishing village and alongside tourism has kept its local community. You can buy fresh bread daily from the local shop and a van comes to the village each day selling fish (around 9am). The village has several restaurants and a local cafe for coffee and croissants. There are several ATM machines all nearby.

Apart from walking the cliff trails, cycling and having a boat trip to see the dolphins, you can drive to the lovely town of Lagos 17kms away and visit the Saturday market which sells fresh produce, veg, plants and organic face creams and flowers and plants and bread baked in a wood oven.

Lagos is an historical town with a plentitude of restaurants and bars to choose from. From the train station there you can reach Faro or further still, visit Lisboa. Trains are cheap!

To the west of Salema with a 20 min drive you find the surfing beaches, Amado is one. The beaches there are rugged and wild and lovely to explore. On the cliffs you see fishermen perched precariously. Cape St Vincent, a famous landmark as it is the most Southwesterly point of Europe is 20 mins drive away.

Food shopping. Vila do Bispo, (7kms) has a daily fish and veggie market (not Sunday) a farmácia and a LIDL. There is also an Intermarche 2 kms away. This is the nearest petrol station.

Salema is a lovely place for a holiday with a safe beach. If you get up early you can watch the fishing boats come into shore.

If you are feeling lazy, you don’t need to go far as all the amenities are here. You can relax on the beach and pop back to your accommodation for lunch! There is a local taxi service, a bike hire place close by and in Salema you can hire kayaks and paddle boards.
